About Friends of JSS in UK

Jan Swasthya Sahyog (JSS) is a voluntary, non-profit, registered society of health professionals running a low-cost, effective, health program providing both preventive and curative services for the past 15 years to people from the tribal and rural areas of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh through a community health program and a rural health centre, which includes a hospital.
The team at Jan Swasthya Sahyog includes specialists in Medicine, Paediatrics, Public health, Gynaecology, Surgery, ENT, Ayurvedic Medicine and Microbiology. Many members of the team were trained at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New
Delhi.

 FOJSS seek to build a network of friends and supporters of JSS in UK. 

Our Vision

To bring awareness to the Indian community in UK about the lack of basic health care, its reasons and its consequences among the rural and tribal populations in India.

 Our Mission

To improve the health of people in rural India which is in a precarious situation by providing support to JSS for low-cost, effective, community based health care system which is readily accessible to the rural poor. Identify and support voluntary non-profit organizations - that are providing medical care in remote rural areas in India and support them by:
  • Hold fundraising events and host JSS information desk at public events.
  • Network with UK alumni organisations of Indian Medical Schools.
  • Maintain a website to support the goals and provide info on the FoJSSinUK developments activities
  • Providing a ‘FOJSS in UK’ doctor to work at JSS Bilaspur for every month of the year (An average cover of 12 weeks/year). 
  • Facilitate senior medical students to visit JSS for their overseas elective postings.
  • Creating a network of consultants who will be able to provide care and consultative services through telemedicine.
  • Facilitating education of medical personnel, arrange technology, skills and equipment support for JSS Bilaspur.
  • Develop sustainable alternative funding sources to reduce the impact of ever increasing budgetary shortfall.
